Lincoln Launches Biodiversity Photo Competition

8 Feb 2024

Lincoln College is today launching a photo exhibition on the theme of Biodiversity! We are looking for photos to be put on display in the corridor of the Berrow Foundation Building to highlight the beautiful nature we have in Lincoln College and beyond.

Run by the Sustainability Team, the competition is open to all students, staff, Fellows, and alumni. Peter Nitsche-Whitfield, Sustainability Officer, said, "“We are encouraging the Lincoln community to think about biodiversity and engage with the beautiful green spaces we have in Lincoln College, Oxford and beyond. By creating more biodiverse spaces in College, we hope to reap the proven mental health and well-being benefits of engaging with the living world.”

There are three categories for entries:

  1. Biodiversity at Lincoln. This category will showcase biodiversity on College grounds. Perhaps you've spotted some squirrels in the Grove, or some birds inhaviting the new bird boxes at our sports grounds.
  2. Biodiversity around Oxford. This category is for photos showing biodiversity anywhere in Oxford, such as the Botanical Gardens, Uni Parks or in beautiful Wytham Wood.
  3. Biodiversity around the world. This category is for biodiversity photos taken anywhere in the world outside of Oxford.

Prizes will be awarded as follows:

First prize for the best photo by a current Lincoln student: £50
Special mention: Lincoln keep cup or water bottle
