Congratulations to Darby Fellow in History Dr Sam Brewitt-Taylor, winner of the Ecclesiastical History Society (EHS) Book Prize for Christian Radicalism in the Church of England and the Invention of the British Sixties, 1957-1970.

The book offers a new angle on Britain’s Sixties by suggesting that it was primarily an elite rather than a popular revolution, caused by elites trying to adapt to a social transformation that initially existed only in their imaginations. It takes religious and moral change as a case-study, arguing that elite radical Anglicans made a significant contribution to the sudden secularization of British culture in the early 1960s.
