Treatment:

  • Mould damaged ares of parchment reinforced with hidakawashi tengu tissue, adhered with gelatine mousse.
  • Isoproponol used to relax creases.
  • Repairs to 37 folios.
  • Three K020 fibre tissue hinges inserted using gelatine mousse between folio 1 and head edge of page stub to enable movement of folio 1 without catching on the stub.
  • Partially lifted pastedown fragment on head edge of right board lightly humified and fixed in place to prevent repeated catching of the parchment.
