Treatment:

  • Title-page cleaned with latex sponge and plastic eraser. Humidified on Goretex and capillary matting and pressed twice to reduce creasing. Small edge tears repaired with Japanese acrylic-toned paper. Losses filled with Japanese Kozo acrylic-toned paper adhered with wheat starch paste. Edges locally resized with methyl cellulose solution. Re-attached using Japanese Kozo paper and wheat starch paste.
  • Heavily creased dedication page humidified in situ on Goretex and capillary matting and pressed between blotters.
  • Lower flyleaf was surface cleaned with latex sponge and plastic eraser. Secured using Japanese Kozo paper and wheat starch paste.
  • Small repairs to headcap and top two panels of spine using acrylic-toned Japanese paper and wheat starch paste solution.
