Lincoln College Teacher Conference

School students at an access and outreach workshop

When: TBC December 2024

Who is it for: state school teachers and leaders

Lincoln College will host our one-night, one-day conference event for state school teachers and school leaders responsible for applications to Oxbridge. It is also useful for supporting high achieving students from disadvantaged backgrounds, or applications to competitive universities in general. Learn about available bursaries, challenge existing preconceptions, and hear from academics involved in the interview process about how you can help students develop the skills we look for.

This event is free of charge for participants, with accommodation provided in College on the first night.

We are fortunate to be able to offer travel reimbursements of up to £60 per person, if you are travelling from more than 75 minutes away.

The sessions throughout the day will cover topics such as: Financial Support & Bursaries for Students; Myth-busting preconceptions about accessing Oxford; Student life in Oxford beyond academic work; Academic life, applications, and interviews. You will hear from Oxford staff, students and academics.

Applications will open in due course.

Oxbridge Webinars by Lincoln College, Oxford & Christ's College, Cambridge

We are pleased to announce Lincoln and Christ's College will once again be collaborating to deliver webinar sessions specifically for students in Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire in early November.

These events are targeted at Sixth Form students in the county. There are 'Introduction to Oxbridge' sessions for Year 12s, which includes advice about how to prepare during this year to apply to highly-selective universities, and a 'Preparing for Interviews session' for Year 13s (split by subject areas).

These events take place online during the autumn term.  You can find full details and information about how to book places below (please note that individual students will need to book for themselves this year). Please check the eligibility criteria below and book your place!

Dates and Times (2024)

Year 12s: An Introduction to Oxbridge:

  • Dates will be announced in Autumn 2024

Year 13s: for those who have applied to Oxford or Cambridge

  • Dates will be announced in Autumn 2024

We will try to find times to suit all parties involved; if students are not sure if they can make the session we strongly recommend that they still sign up so they can receive links and resources sent out after the sessions. You will be automatically allocated to the session that best suits you. For students applying for some joint honours courses, such as Maths and Philosophy, you will be invited to attend both of the relevant sessions.

What do the events involve?

For Year 13s: Tackling nerves head on, we'll provide insight into the interview process, how to prepare, and will go through some interview questions and the kinds of thinking and response that can help students to do well at interview. We will also be joined by some current students in relevant subjects at Oxford and Cambridge to give their perspectives on the process.

For Year 12s: This will introduce attendees to the universities of Oxford and Cambridge and explain what they can offer, whilst breaking down some of the barriers that might stand in the way of students applying. It will also include detailed advice and guidance about how to prepare during Year 12 to make a competitive application to highly-selective universities, such as Oxbridge and the Russell Group. Students need not be certain about applying to Oxbridge in the future!

All events will be a webinar on Zoom - we won't be using cameras or microphones, but there will be a chat and Q&A box for you to ask questions or contribute to any discussion.

How to book places

Places are limited for each event and are available only to maintained sector (non fee-paying) schools from the colleges' Link Area. Students must book themselves on individually, as they will need to be sent details directly.

A booking link will appear here in Autumn 2024.

Applying before the deadline will guarantee that you receive the joining details before the webinars begin. Late applications are not guaranteed to receive the joining details in time (but should still sign up to receive the resources).

Arrangements on the day

Each event will start at the time advertised above, so attendees should make sure they are ready to begin a couple of minutes before the start time so we can start promptly.

Once you have booked, we will be in touch closer to the time with the necessary links and other information for your session.

We look forward to hosting you!
