Running Club Wins Oxford University Cross Country Cuppers!

Since its founding last year, the Lincoln College Running Club has grown into a welcoming and inclusive community for both social and competitive runners. Alongside our weekly events, such as Dash and Danish and Pace and Pint, we recently entered a team of six - three women and three men from both the JCR and MCR - into the Cross Country Cuppers. Our team included Hannah Frens (2024), Anna Drummond Young (2022), Olivia Doyle (2024), Peter Rory Hall (2022), Jeremy Hunt (2024), and William Storey (2023).

The Cross Country Cuppers course consisted of two laps for the women and three for the men, each lap covering a challenging 3km. The route posed a tough test, with runners tackling South Park’s hill twice per lap, making it a true endurance feat. Despite muddy terrain at the bottom of the course, our team ran strongly, ultimately winning the title of fastest college club (excluding the Cross Country Club).

Looking ahead, we have a variety of events on the calendar. Our social runs, held every Saturday, continue to grow with attendance reaching 45 members at the start of this year. On the competitive side, we are proud to support several runners in upcoming races: Micon Garvilles (2019) and Qi Lai will compete in the Madeira Ultra Marathon on 2nd November, and Peter Rory Hall (2022) will take on the Milan Half Marathon on 24th November.

None of this would have been possible without the support of the Alumni Fund for our social run club, the Sporting Fund for our competitive events, and, of course, the our club members.
