Matched Giving Opportunity: Double the Impact of Your Gift

This year’s 600 Anniversary Campaign has focused on ‘Open Lincoln’ and attracting the best and brightest students regardless of socio-economic background. To further this goal, we have been raising money to support new and increased bursaries for our students. We are grateful to Simon (1966) and June Li for creating a generous matched giving scheme. They are matching 1:1 for donors who establish a bursary or add to an existing one. We are pleased to report that, thanks to the generosity of the Lis and our alumni and friends, we’ve been able to establish seven new bursaries and three existing bursaries have received additional gifts.

Bursaries ensure that students can fully take part in College life. Current student Livia Slaymaker (2025, History), who received the Doreen McCormick Bursary, said, “My first term has been very busy, but I have really enjoyed getting involved with as much as I can and making the most of my time here. I am extremely grateful for the financial support, as it has allowed me to get involved in some of the more costly university activities and make the most of all the opportunities available here.”

A Lincoln bursary requires £50,000 to endow. Through this matching offer, a gift of £25,000 can be matched pound for pound, either as a single donation or spread over three years, reaching the level needed to support a student in perpetuity. The bursary provides around £1,500 each year to help with the rising costs of higher education.

As you will know, financial pressures on students continue to grow. Your support can make a lasting and tangible difference to a student’s experience at Lincoln.

Bursary donors receive an annual letter from their student recipient and an invitation to the College’s annual Bursarians’ Dinner. All donors giving £25,000 or more to the 600 Campaign will also be recognised on a special plaque in College.
