Congratulations to our newly minted Professor of History, Lucy Wooding, who has been awarded the title of full professor in the latest University of Oxford Recognition of Distinction awards. Lucy is our Langford Fellow and Tutor in History.

Lucy teaches a range of courses at the undergraduate level on late medieval and early modern British and European history. At postgraduate level she teaches for the early modern strand of the MSt and supervises research projects connected with late medieval and early modern political, religious and cultural history.

Lucy's research focuses on the Reformation, examining both its political resonance and its cultural impact. She examines this period from different angles, including exploring the disjunction and interaction between theological and political formulations of faith and the social reality of religious belief and practice. You can find out more about Lucy's research HERE.

Lucy said, "'I am delighted at this news, and very grateful to all the people who recommended me for this award. At the last formal count, only 26% of history professors in the UK were women, so there is still work to be done in achieving equality, and it is good to be a part of that."

Congratulations again to Lucy, Professor of History.
