‘The Future Unleashed’ is a new video and audio podcast series produced by Lincoln College and hosted by alumna, journalist, broadcaster and author, Helen O'Hara (1996). As the College approaches its 600th anniversary, we take this opportunity to lift our gaze to the horizon of the next six centuries to ask, “What does the future hold?”

We present this question to our esteemed alumni, all experts in their diverse fields. In an era increasingly dominated by streaming platforms and AI, we discuss the future of entertainment and the novel, and delve into pressing issues concerning global health, global security, space exploration, and beyond. In each episode, we explore the unknown with knowledge, curiosity and insight. The first series will have four episodes, with a future six to be released in October when we launch our 600th anniversary activities.

The first episode, with Emily Mortimer 'On the Future of Entertainment', will be available on Tuesday 4 June. Mortimer (1990) shares her journey from an unexpected start in acting to her highly successful work as an actress, writer, director and film producer.

Further episodes will be released weekly on Tuesdays, including:

  • David Walcott (2011) – On the Future of Global Medicine. Release date 11 June.
  • Lynn Shepherd (1982) – On the Future of the Novel. Release date 18 June
  • Adam Camilletti (2002) – On the Future of Space Exploration. Release date 25 June.

'The Future Unleashed' is made possible through the generosity of alumna Dr Sara Althari (2014), who developed this series with the College.
