Lincoln Achieves 2nd Beyond Gold Green Impact Award

For the second consecutive year Lincoln College has been awarded a Beyond Gold Green Impact Award at the 2025-26 University Sustainability Showcase and Celebration. This is the College’s second Beyond Gold Award, which is the highest award level in the Green Impact scheme.

Green Impact is a national programme that supports universities in embedding sustainable practices through collaborative action. At Lincoln, the Green Impact Team, made up of students and staff, has once again delivered a wide range of impactful initiatives, addressing key issues including education, biodiversity and waste management.

The main projects the Green Impact Team coordinated this year were Carbon Literacy Training, a United Nations-recognised, multi-award-winning initiative that aims to establish a low-carbon culture through certified climate education and behaviour change. The training was open to staff and students and has created a strong foundation for future sustainability initiatives and wider engagement across the College community.

Alongside delivering Carbon Literacy training the College has continued to help deliver the Sustainability Pledges scheme[HC1] , and drive sustainability engagement through communications and events.

As part of Green Action Week this year the team also organised a variety of events including:

·         A community litter pick

·         Sustainability Careers Panel

·         A seed sowing workshop with the College Gardening Team

·         A collaborative swap shop between Lincoln, Exeter and Corpus Christi

Juliet Tye, Lincoln’s Sustainability Officer who spearheads our Sustainability efforts, said, “I want to thank the members of the Lincoln community that have contributed to this year’s award. This includes everyone that has attended an event, read the newsletter and entered the Sustainability Pledges competition. Special thanks go to Francesca Hammonds (JCR Environment and Ethics Officer), Alice Sholto-Douglas (MCR Sustainability Officer), Jessica Ryan-Smith (MCR Student), Vritiksha Shah (JCR Student) and Lucy Matheson (Librarian).”
