Rabi Leṿi ben Gershom : Perush ʿal ha-Torah (Venice, 1547)

Treatment:

  • Boards stabilised with tabs of Japanese paper toned with liquid acrylics. Toned aerocotton used for tabs on head and tail panels.
  • Inner hinges of Kozo paper pasted beneath joints. Where visible, these were toned using shavings of pastel pencil mixed with wheat starch paste.
  • Loose fragment of tailcap re-attached onto tabs of toned paper.
  • Tears in right flyleaf and title-page and four succeeding leaves repaired with Kozo paper, toned tengu paper and wheat starch paste.
  • Surface cleaned with latex sponge.
