I will be focusing on the composer Margaret Bonds who belonged the next generation of Black classical composers in Chicago after Florence Price. Bonds also spent much of her professional life in New York and so the legacies of the Chicago and Harlem Renaissances live in her works. I will be bringing her large-scale works to light through my research project.
