Professor Jones is Energy Materials Coordinator for the ISIS neutron spallation facility, Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry for Lincoln College, Oxford, and honorary visiting Professor of Chemistry at St Andrews University and honorary visiting Professor of Engineering at Cardiff University. Professor Jones’s scientific interests lie in the synthesis, optimisation, and characterisation of materials for energy and in particular the use of neutron scattering techniques for in-operando characterisation studies.
He has published on many different materials systems including superconductors, transparent conducting oxides, batteries, and catalysts. Currently his main interest is in the use of neutrons and muons for energy materials
