- Clinical Lecturer in Cardiovascular Medicine
Profile
I studied medicine in Newcastle-upon-Tyne before undertaking academic foundation training in London and Imperial College. I then moved to Oxford in 2012 and undertook a DPhil in Cardiovascular Medicine in the laboratories of Professors Tyler and Neubauer. I was appointed to my current positions in February 2018, and divide my time between research activities and clinical specialist training in cardiology.
- Research
I work on the development, validation, and clinical translation of new molecular imaging technologies in the cardiovascular system, with a focus on advanced magnetic resonance and first-in-human hyperpolarization techniques. We aim to develop new tools to define mechanisms of cardiovascular disease, to create better diagnostics and to derive novel biomarkers which can in turn be used to accelerate the development of new medicines for patients for cardiovascular disease.
