We couldn't be more delighted to announce that Peter Nitsche-Whitfield has been shortlisted for this year’s Vice-Chancellor’s Awards. The Sustainability Officer for Lincoln, Exeter and Corpus Christi Colleges, he was nominated by all three for the VC's Environmental Sustainability Award.
Peter has demonstrated a dedicated and enthusiastic commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement. His holistic and innovative approach to addressing the multifaceted aspects of sustainability is evident in his leadership in securing Gold Green Impact Awards for all three of his colleges, demonstrating a significant advancement in our sustainability practices. At Lincoln College, his considerable input has enabled us to make major progress in understanding College emissions and energy use, as well as helping us formulate the next steps on our sustainability journey.
The Vice-Chancellor’s Awards are a University-wide celebration of our outstanding people. They celebrate excellence, dedication, courage, ambition and inspirational contributions to Oxford’s mission. What was previously five separate groups of awards has become a University-wide celebration for staff across Oxford. There were 250 award entries across the 11 categories this year, representing 1,500 individuals.
Michele McCartney, Domestic Operations Manager, said, "Although he's only been in post for around 18 months, Peter's innovative approach to sustainability challenges has helped reduce the College's environmental footprint in many ways. He not only led our led our Green Impact Team to a successful submission for a Gold Green Impact Award, but has worked with multiple teams and groups of stakeholders to address sustainability challenges across the board. His enthusiasm is infectious, and his work and dedicated focus have allowed us to make huge strides in understanding and improvement."
The winners and highly commended nominees will be announced at a ceremony at the Sheldonian Theatre in May. All staff will be invited to a Vice-Chancellor's Awards showcase, taking place in May, to celebrate the success of our colleagues. Registration for the showcase will open in April.
