On 27 April 2025, Lincoln College Running Club made the journey to Madrid for a weekend of racing, sunshine and team spirit. Five student runners represented the Club, with four tackling the half marathon and one taking on the full marathon. The event brought a challenging course, with Madrid’s hills keeping everyone’s legs working hard - but the results made the effort well worth it.
Among the half marathoners, club president and seasoned runner Maud Treger (2020) delivered an impressive performance with a time of 1:47:43. Representing Great Britain, she placed 841st out of 7,712 women and 5,144th overall out of 19,850 participants. For Hannah Frens (2024), this was her first-ever half marathon, and she rose to the occasion with a strong finish in 1:59:44, placing 2,777th out of 7,712 women and 10,409th overall, representing the Netherlands. Agnes Fanning (2017), also representing Great Britain, finished in 2:23:18, placing 6,253rd among women and 17,009th overall.
In the full marathon, Peter Rory Hall (2022) achieved time of 2:48:49, securing 92nd place out of a field of 11,464 runners. His performance marks the only marathon result in the club’s history which we hopefully will change as the club continues to grow.
The Madrid trip reflects the growing strength of Lincoln College Running Club. With continued support from local sponsor GAIL’s Bakery and our weekly Dash & Dinah run every Saturday at 10am, the Club continues to grow both in spirit and in stride.
Do come down and support Lincoln at the Town and Gown on Sunday 11 May!
