Student Workers
There are a number of opportunities available to undergraduate and graduate students during the course of their studies. If you wish to undertake any of the listed opportunities, please read the relevant sections in full and follow the instructions provided. All students must have the relevant right to work in the UK, and must undertake a right to work check before engaging in any paid work for the College.
- Invigilators

Eligibility
Graduate students who hold Probationer Research Student status or status for any of the following degrees may work as an invigilator:
- M.Sc. by Research
- M.Litt.
- D.Phil.
Specifics of the Role
College Invigilators invigilate collections on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday of week 0 in Michaelmas, Hilary, and Trinity terms. They also invigilate college sittings of Public Examinations during Trinity term, usually in weeks four to nine.
College Invigilators are paid at the following rates in the academic year 2024-25:
- Collection Invigilation: £15.08 per hour (inclusive of 12.07% holiday pay)
- Public Examination Invigilation: £16.74 per hour (inclusive of 12.07% holiday pay)
Engagement Process
In order to work as a College Invigilator, you must do the following:
Step 1: Complete the online College Invigilator training. Please note that the online training must be completed every academic year in order to remain on the approved invigilator list.
Step 2: Complete a right to work check. To book a right to work check, please email rtw@admin.ox.ac.uk with the following information:
- Full name
- Student No. or Oxford Username
- That you will be undertaking work for Lincoln College
- Date the work will start (if known)
Answers to the following questions:
- Are you a visa holder? Yes/No
- If no, are you an EU national (or dependent) who has been granted Settled or Pre-Settled status? Yes/No
If you have already completed a right to work check with the Right to Work Hub, and your right to work check is still valid, then please proceed directly to step 3.
Step 3: Complete the online Student Worker Onboarding form. This form includes your personal details, payroll information, and online contract.
Please make sure that you have completed step 1 (online invigilator training) and step 2 (right to work check) before commencing step 3 (filling in the onboarding form).
