Lincoln College Telethon
In the coming days, before our students arrive back for Michaelmas term, we will be holding the Lincoln Telethon Appeal 2025 between Tuesday 23 September – Monday 6 October. This vital fundraising campaign helps ensure that Lincoln College can continue to provide a first-class education and a supportive, enriching environment for both undergraduate and graduate students.
Our fantastic team of student callers will be calling Lincolnites to share the news from the College, seek advice, and invite our alumni to contribute to the Lincoln 600th Campaign.
To everyone who has kindly and generously donated to Lincoln in the past – thank you. Your gifts have allowed us to continue offering students the opportunities and resources they need to flourish.
This year, as we celebrate 600 years of academic excellence and open our doors wider than ever through Open Lincoln, our campaign is focused on preparing the College for the next century. Our priority project for this year is Student Outreach and Support, which funds bursaries, hardship grants, and welfare provision for students. Additionally, we will seek donations to the Area of Greatest Need, which allows us to manage unexpected financial challenges.
Will you join your fellow alumni to support Lincoln this year, and help ensure the success of our 600th Campaign?

- Darren Lee (JCR President 25/26)

"My journey this past year since becoming a Lincolnite has been immensely rewarding and transformative. Not only have I been able to dive into my academic interests, but this first year has also allowed me to grow as a person and join this wonderful Lincoln community.
It’s for this reason that it is such a privilege to have been elected as this year’s JCR President. I’m excited to ensure that the College community remains as welcoming and supportive as it was for me. It is in this same spirit of giving back to the College that I, or one of my fellow students, would like to telephone you in the coming weeks. We’re keen to hear about your memories of Lincoln, the paths you took after graduating, and any pearls of wisdom you can share with us! During our chats, you’ll also get to hear about College news and find out how student life has (or hasn’t!) changed. The callers will also speak with you about this year’s appeal and seek your support for the Lincoln Annual Fund.
The Lincoln Annual Fund supports key areas of College, including student support, which ensures that finances do not prevent any deserving student from receiving a first-class academic and pastoral experience of Oxford. Thanks to our terrific and active network of alumni, Lincoln consistently ranks amongst the top colleges for financial support per student, allowing College to offer bursaries and scholarships, student hardship awards, and bespoke study skills and welfare support. All gifts, large or small, together make a difference to the student body and help contribute to the exceptional community for which Lincoln is known.
I’m excited to be joining this year’s team of student callers to raise money for Lincoln. I hope that you will enjoy this chance to speak to a current student who is eager to hear your reflections on Lincoln and your shared experiences here."

“Hi, I’m Noah and I study Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my first year at Lincoln, getting fully stuck into not only my course, but also Oxford and college life in general. The telethon is a fantastic opportunity for me and other students to learn from alumni, about not only their experiences at Lincoln, but also about their lives after university. I’m privileged to have been the recipient of bursaries from Lincoln’s generous alumni in the past, and I’m greatly looking forward to being able to use the telethon as a way of not only conveying that thanks, but also demonstrating that Lincoln continues to be fantastic in supporting all its students.”

“Hi! I’m Gaby and I study Classical Archaeology and Ancient History. To say I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year at Lincoln is an understatement. It has been a phenomenal experience to study with such inspiring tutors and facilities, and the welcoming Lincoln community has truly been everything I hoped for. I am thrilled to be a part of a campaign that will make this experience possible for future students because I know how much of what we love about Lincoln exists thanks to the support of alumni. I am also really looking forward to connecting with alumni, both to thank them for their amazing generosity and to hear about their time at college, their achievements and how their time at Lincoln has influenced their lives and careers.”

“Hello, my name is Ferdie and I am a medical student in my final year of studies at Lincoln. I have had a lovely time at the college so far and I am looking forward to being a part of the telethon team! Life at Lincoln has been the highlight of my university experience and it has been so enriched by the generous support college provides for sports teams, student societies, social events, and academic assistance. I would love to give something back to the community before I leave and the telethon seems the perfect way to do that. I also look forward to connecting with former alumni who remember their time at the college fondly :).”

“Since starting at Lincoln three years ago, college has truly become a second home to me. I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far, from being Entz Treasurer to being an ambassador for Lincoln at its Summer Study Days, I’ve loved being a part of such an enriching and encouraging community. Lincoln goes above and beyond to ensure each student is happy and achieving to the best of their ability, and I can’t wait to speak with some of the generous alumni who help to make this world-class learning environment possible. As JCR Vice-President, I see the day-to-day impact that the Annual Fund has on both the variety of activities the JCR can offer and also the degree to which students are supported throughout their time at Lincoln. “As I am going into my third year at Lincoln, I have come to see just how much our college shapes how we experience Oxford. I am so grateful to the Lincoln community for its consistent support throughout my time here so far, whether academically or socially, the college often goes the extra mile for its students. I was a caller last year and really enjoyed chatting with alumni and hearing stories of Lincoln before my time, so I am super excited to join the team again, both to contribute to the annual fund, and to connect with the wider Lincoln community.”

- Joshua Sammet – DPhil Psychiatry 2024
-
“Starting my DPhil in Psychiatry in October 2024, Lincoln and its welcoming community shaped my experience at Oxford from day one. The college itself and its societies are a big part of my daily life, be it rowing for the college boat club or our active MCR community. It is an incredible resource of support during my studies.
I appreciate that none of this would be possible without the generosity of Lincoln alumni which allow the college to provide us with all these opportunities to benefit from. I am excited to join the Lincoln Telethon 2025 team, and being able to give something back to the college and everyone that makes it such a great place.”
