We are delighted to congratulate Anthony Roberts and Kimberly Palladino for being awarded the title full professor in the University of Oxford Recognition of Distinction process.
Professor Anthony Roberts
Professor Anthony Roberts is the Berrow Foundation Lord Florey Fellow in Biochemistry at Lincoln and Professor of Biochemistry in the Dunn School of Pathology. His research explores how molecular motors organise and move material within cells, processes that are essential for life. His group combines structural biology, cell biology and single-molecule techniques to uncover how these systems work. Among his major discoveries are the structures of the dynein-2 and kinesin-2 motor complexes and the way they assemble into molecular ‘trains’ that transport cargo along cilia and flagella. This work has transformed understanding of intraflagellar transport, a process fundamental to human physiology, while also revealing mechanisms underlying severe human developmental disorders.
Professor Roberts said: “I am delighted and honoured to be awarded this title. I see it as recognition of the exceptional people I have had the privilege to work with over the years, especially my research group, whose curiosity and dedication drive our discoveries. It also reflects the fantastic support I have received from my former supervisors and mentors, the Dunn School, Lincoln College, and the Berrow Foundation.”
Professor Kimberly Palladino
Professor Kimberly Palladino is the Tutorial Fellow in Physics at Lincoln and a Professor in the Department of Physics. Her research interests are on the border of particle physics and astrophysics, primarily studying dark matter and neutrinos. She is interested in directly detecting dark matter and works on the international LZ experiment and the future XLZD experiment.
Her previous roles were at SNOLAB on the MiniCLEAN and DEAP-3600 experiments. She has held multiple experimental leadership positions, and has served as a grant proposal, journal article, and experimental operations reviewer in the field of dark matter.
