Endow a Bursary

Bursaries make a great impact on our students as they help relieve financial pressures. Bursaries are held within the College’s endowment and are given in perpetuity. It’s a wonderful way to honour your time at Lincoln by providing for its current and future students. Donors will receive an annual letter from their students and have the chance to meet them at the Bursarians’ Dinner held in College every year.

The Costs

A bursary can be established with a gift of £50,000 over 5 years. The College draws down a rolling 3-year average of the Fund so a student would receive roughly £1,500 a year from a £50,000 bursary. Below, please find a chart which helps break down the costs for a UK tax donor with a tax rate of 40%.

How you can be involved

We hold an annual Bursarians’ Dinner for donors and recipients, and donors will generally receive an annual letter of thanks from the recipient of the award. Awards are given in perpetuity and can be named after yourself or a loved one. To find out more about endowing a Bursary, please contact the Development Team.

"When I first got my offer at Lincoln, I could not possibly have expected the overwhelming support and generosity I would find here. The Bursary I receive gives me a huge sense of security in my day-to-day living costs and allows me to freely pursue my extracurricular interests. I have had the chance to meet several of the donors who make this support for me and others possible, and it is truly amazing to experience the ongoing legacy of compassion and generosity which forms the uniquely magical Lincoln community."
