Collegiate Lincoln

Community Hubs

The close-knit, collegiate nature of the College is what makes Lincoln so special. People feel at home in social gathering spots like the Hall, Deep Hall, the JCR and the MCR. It's important that we continue to maintain the communal spaces that are truly the heart of the College.

Hall

The Hall has undergone a number of developments over the course of the last six centuries. Lincoln’s quadrangles, our Hall, Library and other historic rooms remain at the heart of the collegiate experience of our alumni and current students. These spaces need to be maintained and upgraded to be fit for current needs, and we welcome donations to help our work.

The Junior Common Room (JCR)

Lincoln’s JCR was founded in 1854 and still plays an important role in student life today. You can find the physical JCR at the bottom of staircase 5, overlooking both Chapel Quad and Turl Street. The space is home to JCR meetings, social gatherings, welfare workshops and more. The Annual Fund and the Lincoln for Life Fund help support items such as new couches as well as activities that benefit the JCR. The JCR Committee applies to the College for funding so requests are driven by the students.

The Middle Common Room (MCR)

Lincoln College MCR proudly boasts the oldest MCR in Oxford, providing a welcoming home and vibrant community for around 300 graduate students with a variety of degrees and interests. We have a dedicated social space in the Berrow Foundation Building which is at the epicentre of graduate life in College. The Lincoln MCR is one of the most active in Oxford and has an extensive offering of events for students including Lincoln Leads, college exchange dinners, welfare teas and movie nights, to name a few.  The Annual Fund and the Lincoln for Life Fund support this vibrant community. Much like the JCR, the MCR Committee applies to the College for funding so requests are driven by the students.
