Societies at Lincoln

Lincoln has a broad range of societies, from the extremely popular and active Law Society, to the Politics Society and Music Society. All Lincoln clubs are supported by the College and provide a great opportunity for undergraduates and graduates to get to know each other in a non-academic environment. Whether a student wants to find a group of people who share their faith or interests, or they simply wants to try something new, there will no doubt be an opportunity for them to do so at Lincoln.

Lincoln also has a fantastic reputation for its charity work and there are ample opportunities for students to volunteer with local charities such as Turl Street Homeless Action and the Oxford Winter Night Shelter. Lincoln has its own long-running charity, VacProj, which takes disadvantaged children from Oxfordshire on an annual holiday. Below, please find ways your donations are supporting societies at Lincoln.

The Choir

Lincoln’s mixed voice choir has a good reputation and provides a choral evensong every Sunday during term. With strong support from the College and alumni, choir members have been able to go on tour both within the UK and overseas, as well as making occasional recordings. There are plans for an exciting new choral work, specially commissioned for our 600th anniversary from alumna Emily Howard, with words by poet Michael Symmons Roberts, to be performed and recorded in 2027.

VacProj

VacProj is a small, student run charity that was established in 1972. They rely on volunteers and donations to keep doing their wonderful, impactful work. Every summer, they run two free week-long holidays for Oxfordshire children involved in social services, giving them a break from whatever difficulties they face.

Fleming Society

The Fleming Society began in 1884 as a debating society open to all members of the College. It later also became a play reading society before eventually disbanding. Lincoln students have recently resurrected the historic Fleming Society, with a focus on poetry. They hold events and readings whilst keeping diversity of media and participatory inclusivity at the center of the project.
