If you have access to a kitchen, we strongly recommend that you keep several extra days worth of meals stocked at all times. This will give you time to arrange for a grocery or meal delivery should your flat enter isolation. We further advise that you virtually connect with friends and the households around you to organise a group chat that can coordinate grocery order pick-ups and deliveries to your door if you enter isolation.
The JCR and MCR have also set up teams of volunteers who are able to help flats who need assistance with food deliveries. However, please remember that these students are busy and are helping from their goodwill. They are not obligated to deliver your food. You can contact these groups through the common room social media pages and the following common room committee members:
James Hughes (JCR President)
Rebekah Goodchild (JCR Welfare Rep)
Edward Jones (JCR Vice President)
Emma Lalande (MCR President)
Philippa Warman (MCR Welfare Rep.)
When asking students to assist you, make sure that you check what times volunteers are available with the people listed above. You should then order groceries (via any supermarket, or Deliveroo if supermarkets are not available) to be delivered to the Lodge nearest to you before 7.00pm. Please do not order a lot of chilled or any frozen goods since there is likely to be a delay in getting these from the Lodge to your household. Only order what you need and avoid heavy, bulky items. Once ordered, please send an email to your JCR/MCR committee contact confirming the time, date, and scheduled location or Lodge of the order, making sure your name and room number are included on the delivery. If you are ordering the food to either the Main Lodge or Museum Road Lodge, please inform the appropriate Lodge when your delivery is expected and who will be collecting the order for you. The student volunteers will then message you when they have delivered your food to your residence.
The Lodge, Buttery, and Kitchen are not able to deliver food to those with kitchen facilities, so it is your responsibility to arrange contingencies. Similarly, you should reach out to your friends and neighbours for assistance before the student volunteers.
