Please use ‘Suggestion for College Library’ as the title of your email.
If the Librarian agrees that the College Library should hold copies of the book(s) you have suggested, they will be purchased and sent to you.
We will also be offering a temporary postal loans and scanning services. Please send requests to library@lincoln.ox.ac.uk.
To request a book to be posted to you from the College Library, please include the following information:
You may only request a postal loan for an item that is currently in the Library and not already out on loan to someone else. You must return the book — undamaged — to the Library.
All loans are now due back by Monday 26 April (1st week of Trinity term). From 29 April, all books still out on loan will be due on 21 May. After that, the Library will return to the normal two week loan period (three weeks for those who have extended loans) for the rest of Trinity term. This is a way to balance the needs of those in Oxford and those not in residence until after the 17 May. If you are not coming into residence at all this term, please renew your books when prompted to do so. If you hit maximum renewals, just email the Library to let them know that you won't be coming back this term and they will be able to renew the books for you.
If you only require one chapter of a book, you may instead use the scanning service. Please include the following information:
The legal limit you may request from one book is one chapter. If you require more chapters, please place a postal loan request instead. If more than one chapter from the same book is requested by students for the same paper and the publisher has agreed to an extension of Copyright terms, the scans will be hosted on ORLO rather than emailed to you. A maximum of two chapters can be scanned per work per paper. This means that if a third student requests another chapter, that request will have to be declined.
If you only require one chapter of a book, you may instead use the scanning service. Please include the following information:
It is a legal requirement for the supply of this scan under fair dealing that you have agreed to the conditions which apply. To do this, please include the following text in your email requesting the scan:
Copyright Declaration
UK copyright guidelines state that you may receive copies of: one chapter or 5% of a book, whichever is greater; one article from an issue of a journal.
If you require more than the prescribed limit you should ask for a postal loan instead. Copyright law still applies, so you will not be able to make copies yourself over the amount shown above.
When placing a request you must agree to the following conditions:
I hereby request you to supply me with a copy of the item specified which I require for the purposes of research for a non-commercial purpose or private study.
I have not previously been supplied with a copy of the same material by you or by any other librarian.
I will not use the copy except for private study or research for a non-commercial purpose and will not supply it to any other person.
To the best of my knowledge, no other person with whom I work or study has made, or intends to make at about the same time as this request, a request for substantially the same purposes.
I understand that if this declaration is false in any material particular the copy supplied to me by you will be an infringing copy and that I shall be liable for infringement of copyright as if I had made it myself.
I will retain only a single paper copy and will destroy any electronic copies after printing.
