The Black Chicago Renaissance Women: Lives & Legacies in Music
In celebration of International Women’s Day (8 March 2021), Dr Samantha Ege will present an hour-long lecture-recital in collaboration with The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities (TORCH). This lecture-recital will trace the lives and legacies of Black women composers in Chicago and will feature the music of Florence B. Price, Nora Douglas Holt, Margaret Bonds, and Betty Jackson King. The concert will be streamed live on the TORCH Youtube channel at 5pm on Monday 8 March.
