Attendees | All welcome |
This five-day study school, which will be held at Lincoln College, Oxford, is aimed at librarians, archivists and curators who work with early printed books but feel they would benefit from more training to better understand, catalogue and promote their collections. We are particularly keen to welcome those of you with little or no training in this area. We will cover a range of topics including rare books cataloguing; bindings and provenance; book-handling and conservation; access and promotion. These sessions will be taught by instructors including Celia Bockmuehl, Head Conservator of the Oxford Conservation Consortium, and Dr Sarah Cusk, Lincoln’s antiquarian cataloguer. There will also be visits to Oxford college libraries and the Oxford Conservation Consortium and a printing session in the Bodleian Bibliography Room.
The cost of the course is £250. This will cover instruction, materials and meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Bed & breakfast in College is available at a cost of £70 per night. To view the draft timetable please click here.
If you are interested in booking a place on the course, please email Lincoln’s Librarian Lucy Matheson at lucy.matheson@lincoln.ox.ac.uk by Friday 17th January 2025 giving a brief description of your current role and the collections you work with.
